Applying
one sensory modality to another that is entirely different is common in bee
communities (Reinhard et al. 2004a; Reinhard et al. 2004B; Srinivasan 2010). For example, matching a scent of a flower to the colour of that
flower is particularly useful in everyday foraging activities undertaken by
bees (Reinhard et al. 2004a; Reinhard et al. 2004b).
